About Wag & Wash Pet Grooming Spa
A small, locally owned grooming spa in Buderim, run by people who would rather take the extra twenty minutes than rush a dog.
From vet nursing to the grooming table
I trained as a vet nurse before I moved into grooming full time, and it changed how I work.
In a vet clinic you learn to read an animal before you touch it. The ears, the eyes, the way the weight sits on the feet, the tail. You learn that a dog who is shutting down is not “being good”, and that a dog who is stiff and still is often more frightened than the one who is barking. I brought that into the salon, and it is now the first thing that happens on every visit. Every dog gets read for stress before anything else happens.

Fear Free, on purpose
We are Fear Free certified, which slows the whole process down on purpose.
Fear Free is a certification program for animal-care professionals. It trains you to recognise fear, anxiety and stress early, to change your handling before those signs escalate, and to build an animal’s trust rather than override it. In a grooming salon that looks like more breaks, quieter tools where we can, gentler restraint, and stopping when a dog has genuinely had enough rather than pushing to the finish.
It also means we never sedate. A dog that has been chemically calmed has not learned anything about the salon. A dog that has been given time has.
Anxious dogs get a calmer, slower process here — not rushed through like a car wash.
The same faces every time
Your dog gets the same groomer every visit, so nobody is a stranger with clippers.
We are a small team and we like it that way. When you ring, you speak to one of us. When you drop off, you hand your dog to someone who remembers them. Dogs learn a person — the voice, the hands, the routine — and that familiarity is worth more to a nervous dog than any amount of treats.
Our qualifications
- Fear Free certified groomer
- Certificate III in Companion Animal Services
Done by us, here
Every groom is done by us, in our salon on Burnett Street. We do not hand your dog off, and we do not outsource any of the work. The dog that comes home in a bandana was washed, dried, brushed and clipped by the person you met at the counter.
Wag & Wash is locally owned and operated, in Buderim, for dogs and cats from Buderim, Mooloolaba, Sippy Downs, Palmwoods and around the Coast.
Come and meet us
The best way to see if we are the right fit is to see us with a dog. Browse the before-and-after gallery, or book a groom and tell us what your dog needs.
